前作とは異なり、『THE YGGDRASILLS』では、複数のキャラクター間の細やかな交流や、主人公たちの恋愛ストーリーに焦点を当て、多くの試みを行いました。ゲームのメインストーリーは非常にシンプルで、主人公が養父の死の真相を追う内容です。それに対し、マップのいくつかの場所には意図的に探索可能な要素を多く追加しました。これらはクエストリストには記載されておらず、プレイヤーが驚きと楽しさを感じられるようにしています。
